Liverpool will reportedly make a bid for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
It is no secret that the Reds want a striker this summer, with Darwin Nunez’s future increasingly looking away from Anfield.
Arne Slot wants a new No.
9 to lead the line as the club hopes to retain the Premier League title next season, and several names have been linked with a possible move.
Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, and Alexander Isak are the leading names?
Each possesses the qualities Slot is looking for, but Isak stands out among the three.
Liverpool have been linked with the Swedish international for some time, but it was thought that his asking price would scare the Reds away.
The 25-year-old’s contract until 2028 and Newcastle’s £150 million valuation posed immediate hurdles for Liverpool.
However, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Liverpool are ready to make a move for the 25-year-old under certain conditions.
“Liverpool are ready to shatter the British transfer record for a second time in quick succession as they remain determined to sign Isak if he is genuinely available, according to GMS sources, and they are prepared to lodge an offer worth £100million plus add-ons, which would see the overall package surpass the figure agreed with Bayer Leverkusen for Wirtz,” the journalist wrote for GIVEMESPORT.
“GMS sources have been informed that Isak is Liverpool’s top target as they go in search of landing a new big-name centre forward, leading to them being desperate to discover whether Newcastle would be willing to sanction his departure in the aftermath of enjoying a prolific season at St James’ Park.”
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will indeed break the bank for Isak, having already agreed a deal worth over £100 million for Florian Wirtz.
